E-mail Alias:

An e-mail alias is not a real e-mail account. It is an address that forwards all e-mail it receives to a generic e-mail account. In the example below, any e-mail sent to ecommerce@myco.com.au will be received by PersonB@hotmail.com. People use e-mail aliases instead of personal e-mail addresses because they’re usually easier to remember than a person’s name, and they help reinforce the service or product – ie marketing@myco.com.au . Generic e-mail aliases also mean that if an employee leaves your organisation, there’s no need to change the e-mail alias or republish the contact details – you simply redirect the e-mail alias to the new staff member.

Alias Emails
4.2      Domain:

A domain is a space on the internet where your website will ‘live’. For example in the website address http://www.hotmail.com the domain is hotmail. The Hotmail website ‘lives’ and is accessible to the public through this domain. When choosing a domain name, it is preferable to go with something simple and easy to spell. You may wish to use your business name or an abbreviation of it, or you may prefer to describe what you do – ie www.weddingplanner.com . For all helpdesk queries, please e-mail sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au.

Registered company or business name from which the domain is derived (.au domains only)

If you wish to register a .au domain (eg www.myco.com.au) you are required by law to provide your ACN/ABN for business identification. This is to ensure that only Australian companies register .au domains. For all helpdesk queries, please e-mail sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au.

4.3      Manage Home Page:

Customer Header Image

If you wish to upload your own header image, please select the browse button and attach the appropriate file. The image size needs to be 700 x 150 pixels and must be uploaded in JPEG or JPG format, which stores colour images in a compressed format making them faster to download via a website. If your image is not currently available in JPG format, and you don’t have the necessary software to convert it – ie Adobe Photoshop or some type of picture management program, contact HandiSoft Interactive's Website Coordinator on (08) 9421 1994 or e-mail: sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au for assistance. A service fee will apply for scanning, image conversion and placement. Your HandiSoft Support web administrator will discuss the options with you prior to undertaking any work.

Logo

This will appear at the top-left hand side of your site. Logos must be uploaded in JPEG or JPG format, which stores colour images in a compressed format which making them faster to download via a website. If your images are not currently available in JPG format, and you don’t have the necessary software to convert them – ie Adobe Photoshop or some type of picture management program, contact HandiSoft Interactive’s Website Administrator on (08) 9421 1994 or e-mail: sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au for assistance. We also offer a scanning service for clients who wish to convert standard photographs into electronic JPG format for use on their website. A service fee will apply for scanning, image conversion and placement. Your HandiSoft Interactive web administrator will discuss the options with you prior to undertaking any work.

Content

Content is the term used to describe the information and pictures you add to your website. There is no restriction on the number of images you can add, or the amount of text. With regard to images, however, it’s best to keep them fairly small in order to improve download speeds for your online visitors. For further information on using the content editor, please refer to the Web Builder Manual (LINK) or e-mail sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au. For help with scanning sizing and uploading images, contact HandiSoft Interactive’s Website Administrator on (08) 9421 1994.

4.4      Add New Menu:

Menus:

Menus are listed down the left-hand side of your website. Two menus are added automatically; ‘Contact Us’ and ‘Home’, these menus are standard inclusions on all websites in order to provide ease of navigation for users. They cannot be changed, however, you’re welcome to add as many additional menu items as you please, which will appear directly below the two standard entries. For all helpdesk queries, please e-mail sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au.

 Menu Items:

Each menu item has three properties; ‘Title’, ‘Content’ and ‘Order by’. The title will be displayed on the menu item and the top of the page to which the menu refers. The content property defines what is shown on the page once the visitor clicks on that particular menu item – ie this is the tool you use to associate the content with its relevant menu item. The “order by” property defines the sequence in which the menu items will appear starting at the number zero from the top of the page. For all helpdesk queries, please e-mail sagesupport@vividgroup.com.au.
